Celebrate VE Day With Vintage Vehicles

Chelmsford is set to come alive on May 5th as it commemorates the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a spectacular event that promises to be both educational and entertaining. Organised by Chelmsford For You in partnership with Chelmsford City Council and other local organisations, this free-to-attend event will take place in the city centre and is perfect for families and history enthusiasts alike.

Tindal Square will be transformed into a hub of historical discovery, showcasing military vehicles and vintage buses from the World War II era. This is a rare opportunity to see these iconic vehicles up close and learn about their crucial roles during the war. Additionally, an exhibition will delve into Chelmsford's rich World War II history, featuring artefacts, photographs, and personal stories from the era.

Local historians will offer guided walks and talks, shedding light on Chelmsford's significant contributions to the war effort, including the vital roles played by the Hoffman and Marconi factories and Hylands House. Live performances of 1940s music and drummer displays will capture the spirit of Victory in Europe, while children can enjoy themed arts and crafts and dressing up activities.

This event is not only a chance to honour the sacrifices made during the war but also to educate the community about Chelmsford's pivotal role in World War II. As always, we at Bond Residential are thrilled to support local events that celebrate our community's rich history and vibrant culture. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for a fun day out, this VE Day celebration is not to be missed!
