As we step into the new year, it's time to celebrate just some of our own from Chelmsford and the wider Essex community who've made it to the esteemed 2025 New Year Honours List. This time-honoured tradition recognises individuals who've made significant societal contributions, and this year, we're proud to highlight two of our locals who have been honoured.
Soumya Majumdar, Head of Unit at the Proceeds of Crime Division in the Crown Prosecution Service, has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to law and order. Majumdar's unwavering dedication and commitment to justice have been rightly acknowledged and celebrated.
Simon James Murphy, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Battersea Power Station Development Company, has also been recognised with an OBE for services to real estate and heritage, and contributions to the community in London. Murphy's work has left a lasting impact on the landscape of the city and the lives of its residents.
