Does your home have that 'kerb appeal'?

There are many things you can do to help speed up the sale of your property.   But remember, first impressions count.   Most people make a decision about a property before they even get inside the front door.   Here are some handy tips to help make sure your house has got ‘kerb appeal’.

The First impressions of your home

Take a look at the outside of your home and try to imagine it through the eyes of someone who has seen it before. If the paintwork on the exterior of your home is peeling then a few hundred pounds invested in repainting it can not only improve the value it can also be the difference in a potential buyer viewing your home or not. We would also recommend checking roofs and replacing any broken tiles and clearing and cleaning guttering so that your home looks well cared for.

A well kept garden

For the price of a few shrubs and bedding plants you can easily increase the value your home. A well maintained and well stocked garden will attract a buyer, so if you have a front garden, make sure the grass is short, the borders tidy, and weeds are cleared away.

Off-road parking/garage

Good parking facilities are essential to buyers and can often be the difference in achieving a sale or not. It goes without saying that a garage is an added bonus even if it is just for additional storage. If you have a garage, make sure the door opens properly and it is well oiled, the paintwork is in good condition and the inside is neat, tidy and organised. If you haven’t got a garage and there are difficulties in parking in your street, it may also be worth speaking with neighbors to see if they can arrange to park elsewhere when you are expecting potential buyers to view. If you live in the City Centre it is worthwhile exploring with the City Council setting up a residents parking scheme.

Graham Hughes, Director commented: “Sometimes it is easy to overlook the fact that most buyers will drive around an area and look the outside of a home before actually arranging an appointment to view the inside and this is why it is vital that a great first impression is created.”
