Local Heroes Run Chelmsford Half Marathon

A group of Essex parents and children, known as 'Team Skye', recently completed the Chelmsford Half Marathon, raising vital funds for Gold Geese, a cherished local charity. This inspiring team hails from Rayleigh and Leigh, running in honour of 13-year-old Skye Harris, who bravely finished treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia last year.

Skye, alongside her mum Christina and brother Marley, took on this challenge for the third consecutive year. Their goal? To support Gold Geese, an organisation that has been a lifeline since Skye's diagnosis in December 2021. Christina Harris expressed heartfelt gratitude, highlighting how Gold Geese provided emotional support, hospital transport, and even organised a beautiful End of Treatment party for Skye.

Gold Geese, founded by Katie Southgate, offers tailored support to families of children with cancer in Southend and Basildon. From mental health therapy funding to practical help with hospital travel, their services are invaluable. Southgate emphasised the importance of awareness, noting that childhood cancer affects approximately 1,900 children annually in the UK.

Every donation makes a difference. A small contribution can provide a comforting coffee for a parent or a special toy for a child. Larger donations fund counselling sessions, memorial benches, or even a weekend getaway for families needing respite. To support Gold Geese, visit their website or text donations directly.

For those in Essex, this story is a reminder of the power of community and compassion. At Bond Residential, we are inspired by such local efforts and are here to support our community in any way we can. Whether you're looking to buy, sell, or simply connect with your neighbours, we're here for you.
