World Book Day is a magical time when children across the country transform into their favourite book characters, bringing stories to life. While the fancy dress is certainly a highlight, the true essence of the day is to ignite a lifelong passion for reading.
Sarah Morgan, a former primary school teacher and now the creative mind behind Little Story Shapers, knows the importance of nurturing a love for books from an early age. She shares, “World Book Day makes reading fun and exciting, helping to instil a love of books early on. If children love books, they’ll naturally want to read.”
Sarah’s storytelling and drama classes in Witham, Braintree, and Chelmsford aim to do just that. Little Story Shapers focuses on promoting reading while building confidence, communication, and creativity. Collaborating with local author Justin Townsend, Sarah brings stories like the Zip and Friends series to life, creating vibrant, imaginary worlds for children to explore.
This week, young adventurers are blasting off to space, discovering the orange arch of the rainbow. Activities include moon missions, rocket building, and nursery rhymes like ‘Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, We’re Going To The Moon’. Sarah also provides resources for parents to extend the storytelling experience at home, such as role-playing tea parties inspired by ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’.
Sarah’s passion for storytelling is infectious, and parents can explore her classes with free trials. For more information and resources, visit her website: www.littlestoryshapers.co.uk.
